Lindy received the news that her mother (living in Florida) had been advised that it wasn’t safe for her to live alone in her home any longer. Lisa lived in Indiana and her only sister lived in North Carolina. She was overwhelmed with the news and unsure where to even begin. Lisa and I met for three hours and discussed all the possible options for care for her mother (including arranging for in-home care for her mother and moving her into Senior Housing). We also discussed financial implications and the possibility of Medicaid coverage, as well as Power-of-Attorney and other legal requirements. After narrowing down the details, we were able to map out a path for her and her sister to follow, including people to talk with, questions to ask, and actions to take. When our meeting ended, Lisa had a roadmap to follow to begin making arrangements for her mother. She felt much better moving forward with a plan.
